First edition, rare, two volumes published in 1724 and 1726 respectively; illustrated with vignettes 2 header, 8 pp sheet music, a cabalistic tree inset, the Samaritan Alphabet, 2 boards and 2 figures currencies also inset. Copy to arms stamped on the flat and within each box of the library of the Abbey of Saint-Victor. The abbey saint victor was one of the oldest abbeys in Paris (at the site of the University of Jussieu and garden plants) and one of the great intellectual centers of the Medieval West, rich library was open to the public in the eighteenth with the addition of new buildings. The abbey was destroyed during the Revolution and joined the National Library collections. Full calf blond glossy contemporary. Back tooled raised. Parts of title in red morocco. Parts under very rubbed and tag library tail. Head cover of Volume I threadbare with upper joint split in mind. Lack of Volume II in mind; upper joint with a lack stripped tail. Some corners bumped. Despite the shortcomings, copy very significant, for irons and beautiful weapons. Study Guarin Dom Benedictine, who exhorts, in his preface to the religious knowledge of the scripture perfectly to hear his messages. The first volume contains the Hebrew grammar and the first part of the syntax, the second examines the syntax figured Hebrew (true rhetoric of Scripture). AN ample dissertation follows on various issues concerning the Hebrew, poetry, accents, arithmetic, calendar; there are further treated in the Kabbalah and the Talmud and several tables Chaldean and Hebrew words.
