first edition of this French translation, decorated with a vignette of title and 2 bands of title.
Binding in full brown tassel. Back with richly ornate nerves. Brown veal title piece. Head cap torn off. A snag to the upper joint with a strip of cui standing out on 1cm. Blunt corners. Rubbed together.
It is a historical preface which makes it possible to situate in the events of Antioch the homilies and harangues to the Chrysostom people, most of them having as a frame the revolt of the people of Antioch against the Emperor and then the pardon which gradually ensued that the city was threatened with destruction.
