Edition illustrated with a frontispiece and 54 engraved plates in the manner of wash, most in color, with Alix, Wrinkled and Sergeant from Chery.

Contemporary binding in full marbled fair calf, back with five nerves decorated with boxes and gilded florets, parts of title and volume number of red and black morocco, gilt roulette coaching boards, double gold mesh underscore cuts all red edges.

absent partly head cap, leather almost entirely split bit, some scratches and scuffs on the boards. The false title is missing. It attached a handwritten slip showing that the copy was provided by the Society of Arts Friends of Marseille Bellevaut, theater director of the Marseille Gymnasium for six years which put particular scene in the stage adaptation of the Mysteries of Marseille 'Emile Zola. A Masonic buffer at the bottom of this sheet. The work remained unfinished due to the imprisonment and execution of the author in 1792 during the massacres of September. The characters of ancient coins - mainly from Racine - are staged in demand decorations.

Provenance: Library of Hippolyte Destailleur (with his bookplate), architect and important player in the influence of French historicist current.
